Well last night I went baaa and filled up a tank, mind thats enough for 2 to 3 weeks for me. However as I was asking about bikes a few weeks back, I got the old Raliegh Mountain bike repaired at the local shop (not halfrauds) for £60 quid.
Decided to actually get on and ride it last night to GFs house, partly to conserve petrol and I tell you what, it was fun Its been a long time since I got on a bike, 10 years or so but i came home feeling all good about it, saving petrol, the earth
Im even going out on it tonight so that I can just go for a ride. And the fun of riding past all the queing motorists was fun too.
Going to ride to work next week and see how it goes, being only 5 miles through cheshire country side

Well, I'll pass on my congratulations even although everybody else is mocking
Nice to see someone has seen the benefits. Getting from A to B, with the addition of it helping your fitness, AND costing you nothing in mileage terms. Could it get any better?

I've ridden my mountain bike to work a few times (all 60km of it), but I can't see me doing that regularly especially in the Scottish weather. At least with a car I don't arrive all sweaty and it doesn't take me 2hrs
For short journeys (10 mile or so) it's great ... or when the weather's nice

15 miles to work for me, and I've been tempted to cycle... but there are no facilities here at work for me to get cleaned up and changed, so I'm screwed.
Shame that as I really do enjoy getting out on the bike, and God knows I need to lose some weight.

This thread, and the inevitable petrol shortage motivated me to cycle to work this morning.
I came out of the shower, slipped into my white lycra shorts and top and my spaz shoes and got on my raleigh racer.
As soon as I sat down I began to realise why so many men bike to work
The hard seat sat firmly between my hot, tight cheeks as I sped off down the road.
At the first junction I pulled up waiting to find a gap, and it seems the builders in the van behind me had found theirs as they whistled and shouted "nice **** mate". I winked as I got down on my haunches and sped off.
I enjoyed the feeling of the wind in my hair, muscles straining and pounding in time with pedalling, the saddle by this time wedged firmly in my **** and a glowing smile on my face.
So its another thankyou to gordon brown from me

I went out on my bike again last night. Cant get enough of it now Only problem was I had to go into Garage to buy cat food (run out) and dont have a cycle lock yet, so I was worried some toe rag would borrow it. Luckily they didnt, but I was stood in a queue with up their own **** reps putting £3 and wanting to pay by credit card
