Its not like that

Gordon Brown has so much money he does not know what to do with it. The problem is that spending it on public services or giving away tax cuts would fuel inflation at a time when interest rates are already high.

quote - its the economy, stupid - unquote

All the blah about hospitals, etc., is just that - blah

JayDee fair enough on the second point "The problem is that spending it on public services or giving away tax cuts would fuel inflation at a time when interest rates are already high."

But "Gordon Brown has so much money he does not know what to do with it." remember the rather large national debt he has to pay and the fact we keep letting third world countries off the loans we give em.

Unhappy

Low sulphar fuel and Super in the same sentence, I think not, 'super' is probably not in the political dictionary (other than "yes darling my new 4litre supercharged Jag is super").

And yes your right he has just done a bit of sand bagging (no reference to flood water intended) with the truckers. But to lower taxes he would need to raise the capital somewhere else to pay for the NHS, Schools, Unemployment benefit, Etc. (or thats what they tell us).
Personnally he should sort out ways of saving money, NOT cutting costs, but saving money, in these areas then he can give us a tax cut.

Unfortunately the present government are victims of the Thatcher years of selling off all the countries regular income businesses and although, myself included, we all cashed in and made a quick buck, we are all having to stump up the lost revenue.

Sorry to get all political.

IMHO the only 2 things that Gorden Brown has done right since coming to power is:

1. Giving management of interest rates to the Bank of England.
2. Making a committment to repay the national debt.

Mind you, I think he is a thieving b****** for everythign else!

To sum up my feelings GORDON BROWN DOES NOT KNOW HIS AR53 FROM HIS ELBOW.
Question: Is a scooby fitted with cat likely to give out more or less CO2 than an older car running on 4 star(LRP).If the older car is giving out more CO2, why not tax them harder.

Nothing for us motorists, unless you drive a car under 1500cc.
What the hell is low sulphur petrol?
Gordon Brown is going to be sitting on a budget surplus of £16bn. Remember that's our money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big giveaways come election time me thinks.
Since Labour have been in power the tax burden on this country has risen by £30bn, but I don't see any improvement in schools hospitals roads etc.
I hate politics!

Trev,

Of course you can always pay off bits of the national debt and sound economic sense it is. It is just weird for a government to have the nouse to do it!

This is what Gordon has been doing (You can always borrow it back again if needed)

Actually (reluctantly) I have to say GB is doing a good job with the economy. It just irritates me how smug and greedy he appears.
