Is it just me or are spiders getting bigger?
I'm sick and tired of "big" spiders getting in the house this year.
Its too warm to keep my windows closed at the moment but every other day i keep getting harrassed by these long legged freaks.
If they dont creep up in the bedroom they are lurking in the towels in the bathroom and 1 just crept up infront of me now from behind my laptop and now its disappeared!
They move with the speed of Linford and seem to ignore everything i spray them with including Right Guard!
Must be Armadillo Spiders cos ive hit a few with the sunday paper (mail including supplements!)and they just leg it!
Is this just a freak of nature that my town now suffers as a bizzare toxic pollution?
And don't get me started on them "daddy long legs things" cos they invade every bloody night and bounce of the lights cos they are stupid.

I recently posted 2 threads about the size and bad manners of spiders this year.
Loads of giant ones. Someone posted a link to BBC Northern Ireland News which had a piece about some kind of huge spider which had started to come into houses.

Did you know that an average person will swallow around 5 spiders a year while sleeping?
Certainly made me think last night when I got up to go for a whizz, only to find a spider's web over my face
Not much of one, admittedly, and no sign of the spider, (already swallowed him????), but it does make you think!

LOL @ the "big breed of spider" scares... research has shown that largeness in species of spiders tends not to be a genetic trait handed down from parent to offspring. Large specimens of a particular species tend to have more offspring but not larger offspring.
If there really are more larger specimens around then that is a sign of prosperity, i.e. plentiful food supply, clement weather and good living conditions.
IMO most people who claim to be 'scared' of spiders do so because they think its 'cute' to play the vulnerable act, whereas in fact it makes them look like a tit.

I wonder how's that's proven?

When you swallow a mouse to catch the spider that wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside you, after you swallowed the spider to catch the fly, and I don't know why you swallowed the fly ... perhaps you'll die
Well, you lot. Of course it's obvious how it's proven: someone sat and watched an average person sleep every night for a year, and counted the number of spiders he/she swallowed. Tsk!! Obvious
No, the web went over my face.

Pick the daddy long legs up and chuck it in the spiders web You'll only have one thing to worry about then (although once it's finished the daddy long legs it might be a bit of a bigger worry )

Walked down my close yesterday and spotted a behemoth of a spider sat on someones driveway. The size of it stood out. Like wez sti said, this bugger was about 5 inches in diameter!! Never seen one this big since I came back from living in Australia (was only a nipper mind) Amazing how you can pick these things things up and throw them out of the window when your gf is there (GET IT OUT, GET IT OUT but don't kill it!) but when your on your own you stand on them

Very nice,
Doing a stint at the mo in the ME and these are a frightening adversory (sp?)
Not bothered about the being shot at bit! The spiders is what ***** me up and i reckon that goes for 75% of the geezers (and gals) here.
Apparently if the teeth go up and down its ok but if they are side to sideys then good night!
Ritchie.
