Tempted to have a go myself.
Me and a few mates play every 2nd Friday night and last night was a marathon session. Started at 5:30pm and went until after midnight.
We all chuck £10 in a pot and the chip winner takes the pot.
I came 3rd even though I was chip leader by a long shot at one point, think I started getting tired about 11:30pm and it affected my betting I think
Cool game though - this is where we play

That's a display in MFI's window isn't it!!
Seriously, have look around for the best sign up deals, they're all much of a muchness.
Find a one where you like the look of the gameplay page too, after a couple of hours playing, little things really start to annoy you.
I'm currently playing Victor Chandler and Pokerroom.

I used to play williamhill because it was in £££s but have recently switched to partypoker as I was getting seriously hacked of with Hills. Still early days on party but a lot more choice of games and much MUCH better MTTs. Also cleared a $100 deposit bonus very easily playing 3 tables at once for a few hours

I used to play pokerchamps which is the 'gus hansen' one.
A guy at work thinks they are all fixed, but then he is one of those conspiracy theorists/pessimist. Personally I don't think any of the big ones are rigged because they are probably quite heavily regulated/audited. But then maybe I'm just being naive!

After having my first online session last night I tend to agree with you.
You just can't beat the atmosphere and that feeling of looking at someone across the table when stuck in a betting war

I didn't do too well I'm afraid, but I'm only a novice anyway. We haven't been playing our home sessions for very long.
I entered a single-tabel tournament with a £1 buy in and 20p to William Hill which gives you 1000 chips.
Prizes are:
1st - £5
2nd - £3
3rd - £2
Not huge stakes but at least when you lose it's only £1.20

Look for a single-game tournament and make sure it is a £1 buy in game to start with
Good for practice
Good luck
My ID is madscoob, maybe we'll meet over a table somewhere

Fair enough, I just don't think you should go into the games with those sort of thoughts in you head. I think the ones where you play against the house are a bit suspect , but on poker champs you (alledgedly) are playing other punters. Not played any others but assume most of them are like this.

VC occasionally, but i,m not to sure what i,m doing...
seems what they say you can do you cant.... one minute the raise icons there, yet when it gets to me it a check or fold jobby ..

Playing with play money is not much use if you want to really learn how the game works as people just call and re-raise absolutely anything so (if anything), it will just get you into bad habits as you will inevitably go along with this.
Set aside an amount of money you can afford to lose and play real money with REALLY small stakes at first if you really want to learn how to play. Reading a good book would be an idea as well.
And another thing, only around 6% of all poker players actually make money in the long run so as long as you dont go in with expectations of being the next Doyle Brunson and you will be OK.
Enjoy, its a great game.

A lot of people talk about the tables being fixed, and Ive been either seiously helped by the river or screwed by it as either massive underdog or big favourate to maybe suggest this, or it could be a just the way the cards sometimes land.
Saw a product you could buy for $59 dollars which allows you to cheat and win at online poker, which it claims once doenloading the software will allow you to see everyone elses cards, sure it could not do this but if it could then may explain why some people do very well at it!
Heres the link http://www.cheat-at-poker.com/
Sure its con of somesort.

most poker "cheats" are rubbish. i play live with guys that work for many of the big online sites and you simply cant see the cards theyw ill deal others.
however...what can be done is to guess at what the random number genertaer will pick next - supprisingly accurate software results from this.
