Convicted killer to mentor children!
What an insult, would you let your children go to a summer camp with this piece of garbage as a mentor?
Mentoring in life choices.
What an insult to the families of the man he killed and to PC Blakelocks widow as well, Silcott got of on a technicality!
This will damage the Met's standing IMHO and after the good work with the London Bombings.
More PC rubbish!

iirc his conviction for Blakelock's murder was overturned, so we have to assume that he didn't do it. Tbh I think that the kind of kids who are likely to get involved in serious crime are more likely to listen to Silcott than some do gooder missle class white fellow. Although I do seem to remember, at the time of his original trial, he was said to have a mental age in single figures...

Its the PC lentil eating nutcrunching Roman sandal wearers demonstrating their power to us all again. Wonder when they will actually manage to do something for the general good of the country!

Paul, i'm sorry but i think the appeal court completely quashed the conviction, so much so that the Judge apologised for the injustice and awarded £50,000 settlement for the time he'd already served. I was (at the time) led to believe that there was no technicality and that it was a case of "the wrong man" but i stand to be corrected.
Why though a convicted murderer who DID play a part in the riots is allowed to "teach" these youngsters is beyond me. Surely with all the money, time and effort spent on Psychology Degrees etc etc Why isn't there anyone else better qualified to run this set up with the odd "guest speaker" to offer life at the sharp end experiences.
So murdering people does bring its rewards then

Tony Blair's much older than me - does that make him wiser .
Actually Silcott is Older than me too.
Surrounded by all these wise old heads.
No wonder the Country's screwd - too many middle aged ********* running the place .
At what point to Older People start to become wiser and worthy of automatic respect ?

Don't forget as well that he served 18 years for the murder of gangster Tony Smith for which he had been on bail for at the time of the Blakelock murder.
Bail for murder. That's madness in itself isn't it?

Yea - letting a black man out on bail when charged with murder is obviously wrong. Only middle-class whites like Harold Shipman and Sion Jenkins should be out on bail when charged with murder.
But the simple question is: will it work? If he can stop young kids offending then let him get on with it. Unlike most of the people here at least he knows what prison is like and why kids should avoid it. It's not like he's the first ex-con to go out and teach kids how to stay out of trouble. And if his original defence of self-defence is accurate (various quotes describe the victim as a "gangster" and a boxer) then most of you here should be in favour surely? Or does self-defence only count for middle-class people defending their semi and its contents?
As for the: "He got off on a technicality", what do you know that the court doesn't? It doesn't matter how he got off, he is now officially innocent of that crime. Are you suggesting that anyone accused of a crime should simply be convicted? Or is only a "technicality" if it lets off someone you don't like? Funny how the people who suggest pipepoo.com to help them get off speeding tickets don't consider that "getting off on a technicality".

He was convicted of murdering someone - not self defence or manslaughter!
IMHO It is not a 'black' thing or a middle class thing and do not try to make it so!
God knows how a convicted murderer got past the CRB test - well i imagine rubber stamped by some leftie guardian reading chattering class Gucci Socialist PC tosspot. Otherwise HOW????
Really, would you trust your childeren with this man?
He is not a role model or someone i would want my kids to meet or listen to.
There must be better ways than this.

You can't beat mob justice can you
On the one hand, the media whip up a storm of protest because Winston Sillcott, a man we would never have heard of btw, if he hadn't been wrongfully convicted of the murder of a policeman, is attempting to prevent youngsters from ending up on the same path as he did.
Yet those same guardians of the public morals were over the moon when Leslie Grantham (another convicted murderer, lest we forget), was enticed back into a Prme Time television show
