iirc his conviction for Blakelock's murder was overturned, so we have to assume that he didn't do it. Tbh I think that the kind of kids who are likely to get involved in serious crime are more likely to listen to Silcott than some do gooder missle class white fellow. Although I do seem to remember, at the time of his original trial, he was said to have a mental age in single figures...

Paul, i'm sorry but i think the appeal court completely quashed the conviction, so much so that the Judge apologised for the injustice and awarded £50,000 settlement for the time he'd already served. I was (at the time) led to believe that there was no technicality and that it was a case of "the wrong man" but i stand to be corrected.

Why though a convicted murderer who DID play a part in the riots is allowed to "teach" these youngsters is beyond me. Surely with all the money, time and effort spent on Psychology Degrees etc etc Why isn't there anyone else better qualified to run this set up with the odd "guest speaker" to offer life at the sharp end experiences.

Yea - letting a black man out on bail when charged with murder is obviously wrong. Only middle-class whites like Harold Shipman and Sion Jenkins should be out on bail when charged with murder.


But the simple question is: will it work? If he can stop young kids offending then let him get on with it. Unlike most of the people here at least he knows what prison is like and why kids should avoid it. It's not like he's the first ex-con to go out and teach kids how to stay out of trouble. And if his original defence of self-defence is accurate (various quotes describe the victim as a "gangster" and a boxer) then most of you here should be in favour surely? Or does self-defence only count for middle-class people defending their semi and its contents?

As for the: "He got off on a technicality", what do you know that the court doesn't? It doesn't matter how he got off, he is now officially innocent of that crime. Are you suggesting that anyone accused of a crime should simply be convicted? Or is only a "technicality" if it lets off someone you don't like? Funny how the people who suggest pipepoo.com to help them get off speeding tickets don't consider that "getting off on a technicality".

He was convicted of murdering someone - not self defence or manslaughter!

Yet those same guardians of the public morals were over the moon when Leslie Grantham (another convicted murderer, lest we forget), was enticed back into a Prme Time television show
