MOUNTAIN BIKE FORKS
Was looking for some guidance really...
I have a Scott G Zero and want to upgrade the forks from the RST Gamma to something better. Performs ok but has a nasty top out clunk when you lift the front over tree stumps etc. Yuk. Mostly trails and the odd black route, no jumps.
Not too keen on air forks as these lose pressure after a while, and I like to set my bike up and leave it, so oil and springs maybe the way for me? Have heart set on some Rockshox, dont know why, but they seem to have the same disc mount as mine, and I like the look of them!
However, I just squished some RS Judy (bottom of range RS) and they felt awful, much worse than what I have. Any reccommendations?
I would like a rebound adjuster too (not essential though), budget really is £150 max, but that includes getting say a new 04 model off ebay.
Any help appreciated.

Marzocchi Bombers.
Got a set on my Mount Vision to replace my Manitous. Coil sprung, cost me about £180ish about 8 months ago with a set of Hope Mini's. Never been keen on Rockshox, reliabilty wise or performance wise.
Not too sure about the latest bits of kit but I've just got back from Mountain biking in the Pyrenees (there was some sort of road-bike race on at the time also 8D ). They worked flawlessly..
cheers

Have a look on http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ - I bought a set of Judys off there a few years back, when they were higher up the range, and they've been excellent. Personally, I'd not get second hand ones, esp. not on a decent bike, really just so that you know where you stand with them in terms of maintenance and so on. There are some gooduns to be had in previous year's stock and so on
Cool bike btw

Not true air forks lose pressure, I have a set of Fox RLT's and I havent added air for 12 months and they work really well, light too compared to spring forks. But you pays your money and you makes your choice. Just dont go to Halfrauds....
Although for a budget of 150 (unless they are 2nd hand, but be careful forks can have a hard life and it may not be visible) you aint going to get much ......

Definately agree with the Marzocchi Bombers for the money.
Don't agree with losing air. My Marzocchi Marathons have never lost pressure in over a year and my Fox Talas RLC's are fantastic on my full suss, if a little over your budget.

A mate of mine bought the MX pros just recently, and he says they've been excellent - better quality than the equivalent Rock Shox , and a nicer feel, he said, which was why he bought them
