[What they say]
And when we consolidated our loans we had enough left over for a holiday!
[What it means]
I don't understand the concept of compound interest.

I never understood this. I have money problems, so I can borrow more money and then go on holiday.
What is wrong with these people?

It cracks me up when they crowd round the bills and look dismayed, then get on the fone and its all smiles and cuddles for them they state the obvious, you can consolidate your debts with one loan, then everyone looks surprised because they never thought this possible
congrats on getting 40% apr and paying it off for the rest of your life !

I think the most classic quote was by the fat ugly bird (oh, that narrows it down somewhat!) saying "...and they didn't babble me with science or whatever..."

Or when the couple are sat at the table surrounded by bills and the wife is 'listening in' on the phonecall with her head nodding like the churchill dog next to her husbands.... how the hell can she hear it - he has the handset at the other side of his head - does he have an empty space between his ears?

It isn't f'king science! Borrow money - pay interest. Take all your loans and pay them over a longer period and the monthly payment goes down. "And we had enough left over to pay for a familly holiday!" Yeah, right. And you'll be paying for the family holiday at 15%pa for the next 20 years.
