Default Breitling Super Ocean / Goldsmiths

After much time spent looking at which watch i'm going to get I think this is the one.

I looked at one on Blitz and thought it was real ugly. Went to my local Goldsmiths (again) yesterday and they have just had one come in and it looks stunning.

How much should I expect to negotiate off in Goldsmiths?

It is £1300 squids.

TIA

I got £190 off the £1100 RRP of my seamaster, so for £1300 I would hope for well over £200 off.

My line was "Do it for £xxx and I'll take it with me now"

Got them working hard on the discount hehe
Take a print out from Blitzwatches with you incase they wanna see it, they didn't want to see mine or ask why I wanted such a large discount

Not sure if Goldsmiths do discount, you can try asking. As above, i took a printout from Blitzwatches in to 'Watches of Switzerland' in Cardiff and negotiated 15% off my Breitling Avenger Seawolf.

Edit: Oh and paying cash/debit helps, they'll often say something like 'we'll do if for £xxx if you take it with you now sir'.

After chickening out of Blitz after seeing the Breitling 'no comebacks' warning on the website, I checked their website for local dealers.

Found a small independant and he took £150 off in the end, which I thought was very good. I'd shop around and take the blitz printout with you as stated above - there are discounts out there, just difficult to find sometimes.

Oh, and for info my local ernest jones wouldn't shift at all on price

P.S. My £190 discount WAS from Goldsmiths on Sheffield Fargate, just asked and they did it straightaway.

You don't ask, you don't get

Save up a few pennies and get a Navitimer. 100% more classy IMHO. The Navitimer is a classic Breitling design and not just a big gong...again my thoughts only. I dont think the watch you have picked is exactly atractive and is been purchased as its a 'Breitling' !! Just thinking out loud

Nice choice Chopper - I've got the Superocean black face and love it.

Having tried on half-a-dozen (navitimers, steelfish, seawolf, hercules etc.) the SO looked the best on my wrist.

Thought the Navitimer looked more "gong-like" IMHO Also less of a "I have a Breitling" advert than the Hercules.

Each to their own I say!!

I don't like the Navitimer either, far to large and too much going on for my liking.

But as with most things in life, each to their own.

I would love a Navitimer - Think they are a beautiful watch but can't bring myself to spend £2500 grand on one (in my mind spending a grand(ish) is ok, 2500 seems too much for a watch. I would only buy a Breitling, looked at Omegas which are nice but always wanted a breitling.

In the flesh it looks superb imo.

I like navitimers but they are more of a 'smart persons' watch, goes well with a suit, or at least shirt/trousers. I'm more of a jeans/t-shirt person so a less flashy watch suits me better. Plus I dive so a Navitimer wouldn't be much good to me as they're not waterproof.

My choice was between the SO and the Avenger Seawolf. I preferred the Seawolf so that's what I went for.
