Scuba lessons....
Going to the Maldives in Oct so want to do my 1st part of the open water test in the UK then do the actual open water dives on holiday.
Was thinking of the londondiving people.....their 1 day course is only £99 which seems a bargain - anyone used them? good or bad?

That sounds pretty cheap, but i'd be surprised if they can fit the pre-referral bit of the PADI O/W course into just 1 day. Usually there are a few hours of classroom sessions, plus a few pool sessions teaching you the basics. Bouyancy control, mask clearing, air sharing, etc etc.
My course it was 1hr classroom session and 1hr pool session every wednesday for 5 weeks - so about 10hrs in total. Plus there was a fair amount of reading to be done between weeks. Then finally the 4 open water dives to qualify, these are what you'd be doing on referral when you're on holiday.
Maybe get a copy of 'Diver' magazine and ring a few of the training places in the back and ask what their referral course consists of?
Avoid 'Dive' magazine as it's the BSAC one and wont have so much PADI info in it.

ok...just spoke with them.
They send a DVD so you can study in advance on the theory - the theory on the day then is reduced to confirming you understood the 5hrs of DVD.
we then do the open water dives in the Maldives which will leave time for some normal dives after the 2 day course ends......doesnt save much money on the PADI course out there but it frees up 2 spare days.

Cool, that sounds alright then.
Hope you have fun, my open water dives were in Devon with <5m visibility. I still thought it was brilliant though, the Maldives should be awesome.
