Recommend me a book, or two...
I've got a date with a surgeon on Friday, and I'm going to be confined to my bed for a week or two following that.
I've just finished the fourth and final book from Dan Brown and I'm wondering what you can suggest that's of a similar style to keep me entertained.

i've just finished a book called "The Graft" by Martina Cole.
Really easy to read and is about the darker side of the underworld. I gaurentee that you wont put it down. I've read many books but this is just awesome especially if you like the underworld / gangster scenarios. Please dont just dismiss it, it's an exceptional book that is a "must read". The writer pulls no punches and writes as she sees it, really compelling stuff. I haven't read anything this good in years and yes that includes all the stuff you would normally consider as "must read" literature.

Soulgirl ; If you want more of the same, or similar, try Edward Rutherford's sagas.... Sarum, London, The Forest, Russka........ very much in the same vein as Pillars.

Not fiction, and not new, but very well written. I found this a fascinating read.

Birdsong - Sebastian Faulks is a gripping, but slightly haunting read.

London was probably the most interesting. However, Sarum has a place in my heart since it was the first one of his I ever read.It moves from just after the Ice Age up to the 1970's. The Forest was interesting because it gave an insight to the history and importance of the New Forest. He manages to mesh real historical facts in with fiction in such a way to make it all come alive. He follows his characters right through the ages and their interaction with real time historical events. Oh there was Dublin too ...... can't really say any one of them was bad..... they were all good in their own right. Haven't finished Russka yet.
