Programmable, good balance of normal keys and display, quite easy to use, you can create macros (e.g. to turn everything on at the press of a button). Good price etc.

phillips/marantz pronto (very good full colour but expensive)
Cambridge audio (touch screen lcd very good value £70ish richer sounds)
we have the cambridge it's very good but bulky and it has lost it's memory a couple of times and takes eons to programe in 10 remotes!!!
but better than going from one remote to the other just to put a feckin dvd on!!

Well, I won't suggest a Pronto NG then (Had mine for two years, still have not programmed everything into the thing, lol )

Prontos are the best remote by far. Just make sure you set them up with the software and not manually (yawn) they are very easy to do plus you have abackup file on yr pc then incase it all goes wrong. If you can't program it approach your nearest custom install outfit and pay them to do it.

Unless you can customise the button and give them their own names any remote control will be a comprimise. You end up having to remember what each button does i.e. the text button when I'm on CD does random etc (bad example I know) You also end up with a bunch of buttons that are not used on each page, agin adding to confusion.

I've got the Cambridge; it's fine, but as stated previously not being able to re-name buttons mean you need to compromise somewhat. Buttons you aren't using can be 'removed' to tidy each page up.
I still use the sky remote, 'cos you can't beat the feel of real buttons when surfing through hundreds of pages of 'nothing on'.
Also, the gf has problems using it. I should have got one of these new 'learning' gf, but they weren't out when I got mine and I can't afford to trade her in...

Not too bad if you use good quality rechargable cells, can get about 10 days out of a charge.
