Default Sky plus disk space

My sky plus disk space has disappeared

We have 3 programmes in the list which judging by the bar indicator should take up less than 10% of the space yet it says there is only 8% free.

We were watching a programme just now that we had paused and it blew out saying out of space

A while ago a whole bunch of programmes we'd recorded mysteriously disappeared (but a couple remained, none were marked to keep), could it be linked?

Any help most appreciated.

Unplug / restart won't do it. This is a known bug where failed recordings don't give their space back. You have to reformat the disk - I think it's under a hidden housekeeping menu. Google is your friend...

I think you're both right...

Just unplugged and found another 50%, but there's still a fair bit missing...

Will look into the reformat option tomorrow, nothing we're desparate to keep.

Thanks guys

Goto the system menu then sky setup and press 01 then select and the hidden menu appears. Select full system reset and the harddisk will format but you will loose everything you have.

I had this too, a full reset cleared it all up but you'll lose anything you have recorded so watch em first !

I've heard that Sky+ boxes can be a bit unreliable. Is this normaly a HDD issue?

I have had untold trouble with my sky + box and am now on box 4 Lnb 3 and dish 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have now solved all my problems (I pray) and the cause was heat. If the box does not have enough air flow it will get very very hot and although all seems OK the recording and pause feature will fail and will end up corrupting other recorded programs. Every Sky engineer said the box placement was tight but would not be a problem but I kept getting recording problems. 2 weeks ago I moved the box from the cabinet and it now sits on a wire cage behind the tv and I have not had a single problem since. The box now is always room temperature whereas before it was hot to touch.

Remember whenever sky is on the hard disk is recording.

Here's how to do it, and this (allegedly!) is the 160gb hard drive that Sky charge you an extra £200 for. Bargain!
