Survival rate of lung cancer, UK (national health service): 5%

Survival rate of lung cancer, US (private health care): 20%

Thank God for the national health service. Or at least, thanks to the national health service, you will get a chance to thank God sooner.

This was a partly political broadcast on behalf of the Sprint Chief alliance

Well it couldn't get any worse, I mean what could be worse than waiting 18 months for a routine op and getting the MRSA bug and not comming out again....then again, if you paid for the op and then get MRSA thats slightly worse.

Those prices are quite competetive when I look at how much it cost me to replace the knee in my dog.

I personally have private cover...after what seeing what my nearest and dearest friends and relatives went through during serious and life threatening illnesses under the NHS all on seperate occasions. I vowed I'll never ever let myself get in such a circumstance. Thinking about it now still haunts me, as does my relatives and friends - some of which have also now have private cover after eduring hell on earth; a NHS hospital. Paying not to be in one - no matter how much it costs is worth every penny

With trash like the above "petition", i think that Nu Labia have just about blown any credibility that they ever had left

Maybe the ASA should get the website closed down

I feel sad for the traditional Labour voters, who no longer feel part of an honourable cause!

Sounds like the Labour party will end up with NO votes at all then??!!

Will be a mystery when the winning party gets no votes whatsoever

The NHS would NOT be safe in the Tories hands - thats a fact that has been fact for ever ..............

I'm simply alerting you to the poll that you should complete

A distant relative of mine required a replacement hip.

Nearly 3 years on the NHS waiting list, he finally got a new hip a year or so ago.
As the wait went on he couldn't drive and could only walk with two walking sticks and then for only very short distances. He rarely left the house, and was only 60 years old.

He's just had the other hip replaced this year.
He went private, cost £4500, and a waiting time of 6 days.

Money well spent.

They offer tp pay half of the NHS cost towards it if you decide to go private which is your own choice! Remember that PSL, as you were shouting about-it is your own choice.

This will also free up more places for quicker and free operations on the NHS which is of course still available to everyone as before. Sounds like good thinking to me, but then you would never admit to that.

Waste of time coming out with rubbish criticism based on untruths, does not do your case any good at all.

It's worse than that though. Becuase of the waiting lists, my father in law has been messed about for the last 7 or 8 years for a knee op. He gets on the waiting list for a consultant, gets told he needs his knees replacing. No slots for that so they put him on physio for 3 months. At the end he is told to keep doing the physio for himself, if it is no better after a month or so he should see his GP and start the whole process all over again of trying to get to see a consultant. He has just completed cycle number 4 of physio, they are suggesting they may "flush" his knee out this time (for the 3rd time).

Go for it NL, keep shunting people around so they don't appear on your lists, keep making up government jobs to hide the unemployment figures. Keep lying and borrowing money to prop up the shakey economy.

The NHS is a great idea and something that we should be proud of. However, any organisation that has become as bloated and inefficient as the current NHS needs some serious changes. This blind accpetance that the NHS should be saved and anyone who uses private health care is tantamount to being a traitor is ridiculous. The NHS is now the the 3rd largest employer in the world and within 5 years, it will be consuming £100 billion of our taxes every year - that is NOT good or sustainable.

We need a public / private partnership for healthcare - exactly the same as used in Germany and other parts of Europe - look at the standard of healthcare in most of the major countries in Europe to judge whether this is working or not.

Pete I'm afraid you've been suckered into believing the political bullsh** pumped out when elections are due.

Oh its from a reliable source then, the Labour website!! lol!!

On a serioues note however, my Gran had to pay about 16k for a heart-bypass from Bupa because the NHS is in such a state the waiting list wouldve been over 3years, and its unlikely she wouldve survived it.

What really takes the **** is as well as working all her life (never claimed any benefits) and being in the WVS (or whatever it was in WW2) she also helped out on a voluntary basis for 10years in an NHS hospital after she retired. Some payback from them then...

A free NHS is unrealistic in todays UK overrun with chavs in immigrants who get everything for free, at the expense of us taxpayers.

What labour won't tell you is that because the waiting lists are so high, you end up having to go private and pay for it yourself anyway. I waited 10mths for an appointment with the NHS before I said "f**k this" and went private.

Phoned my Doc and she got an appointment within 2 days and I had the operation 2 weeks later. Just a sports related injury, so I can see why someone needing a replacement hip should come first.

Seems that the NHS are only good for life threatening problems and emergencies.

Errr yeah - everything that Tony says is true - Do Iraq still have the capability to end the world in 40 seconds LOL - you need to read the Blue manifesto properly PS - dont worry though, there are some pages with big writing on, that gives an overview of what they want to achieve - hopefully this will help the labour voters be able to read it
Who knows maybe some of them will change their opinion and for once not vote for a party based purely on class and lack of political knowledge

Pete,
What a load of Labour bull**** again. Their petition says

"The Tories plan to introduce charges for hospital operations"

It then goes on to say the tories want you to pay ££££s to have this and that operation done which as I'm sure you know is just 100% labour propaganda as is most of what they say.
