Can any body tell me how much tax/duty is taken by the govenment for every pound spent on fuel. Over three months i am going to see how much tax i give to them in total expenditure.

I could be wrong, but I think 70 - 75% is tax&vat. Don't work it out, you may hang yourself

£1 fuel splits roughly this way:

14.89p VAT
59.94p Fuel Duty
4.95p Retailer
20.26p Refinery

I know it adds up to 100.04 - thats because they all rounded up!

Not sure if this is out of date?
The current rates. Both show slightly different numbers

...yeah, so you'd move to Egypt JUST because of the cheap petrol then?

Never mind the healthcare is crap, the std of living is naff, and other features of a less developed country than the UK.

You pays your money, you take your choice

Just got back from Spain...Petrol's gone up a bit recently to about 90 cents a litre, 60p ish.

Most things seem considerably cheaper, food, cars, healthcare, 25cl bottles of San Miguel 20p . Oh and the weathers nice

OK I wouldn't want to live there full time but I've seen a noticeable fall in my standard of living in the last few years despite several pay increases. Britain is unfortunately no longer more developed than many places in Europe.

Just an observation.

Tenerife - between 56 and 65 cents a litre, depending on the type of fuel. And they have a choice between 97 and 98 octane SUL....
