Angry Vodafone

[rant mode]
Okay so I purchase a Sony Ericsson K700i from Phones4U on Vodafone back in November. Since purchasing it I have had constant problems receiving text messages. People keep telling me that messages are failing or they are taking 48 hours to get to me !

I put up with it for a while but eventually call Vodafone to ask whats going on. Dial 191 and speak to Vodafone customer services and after a long wait, they tell me thats is a reported fault that is being looked into . . . an incompatibility with the phone and the network also evident on the O2 network. They give me a log number to refer back to and tell me that they are working with SE to get it fixed.

A month or so later I get fed up and call them back again to get an update . . . same response . . . its being worked on I get the hump and buy a new (2nd hand) phone to use in the meantime until it get fixed. Another month or two pass and I get annoyed that I have a brand new phone thats totally useless to me sat on my desk and call Vodafone back again. This time I decide that I've had enough and want a replacement handset or to cancel my contract, the phone was not fit for purpose and I want it sorted.

Calls Vodafone . . . 'Yes sir, its a known problem, just take your phone back to the shop and they'll replace it with a Nokia' Why didn't you tell me that in the first place ??

So, off to the shop we go to get my new phone Or so I thought . . .

Rather attractive girl on the counter . . . 'No sir, its not a problem on Vodafone, just O2, nothing to do with us <checks with manager> you need to speak to Vodafone, its their problem'

Back to the car and call Vodafone again . . . same response . . . 'You need to take it back to the shop'

Back to the shop again, attractive girl is busy dealing with someone else so I have to speak to the manager 'No sir, nothing to do with us'.

As you can imagine, enough was enough and I asked him to call Vodafone to find out what the score was. He checks first with his superior who confirms that its Vodafones problem and calls Vodafone . . . 'Oh yes, just get him to send the phone back to us (Vodafone), we know all about the problem and will replace the phone' . . . .

I ask why the hell they didn't tell me that in the first place . . . 'Oh, our computers were down, so we couldn't process your claim' Please call us tomorrow.

Anyone want to buy a phone ?

The phone they are offering in exchange is a Nokia 6230. Anyone got one ?

Do I take their bribe or tell them to insert it in their rectal phone holder ?

got a 6230 - like it but I have a gripe with the cursor, you have to press the middle to "select" which is easier said than done...

I had MMS problems with my P900 and Voda. Was a known prob like yours. I said I was not happy and could I get a replacement handset set out. Told them I'd like the P910i... was there the next day.

Tell them you are mising important texts etc and they ask they send out a replacement handset. Tell them you'd like a S700i as you are used to the SE menu system etc

bullsh!t works!

Must be you..

Do you work in a lead-lined box?
Are you a radiologist?
Are you wrapped in tin-foil like a giant Kit-Kat?

Do you work for Vodafone ? They are the exact same 3 'security' questions they asked me when I called.

lol, sorry

Seriously though, no connection problems at all with mine or my gf's K700i and Vodafone. the only niggle we've had is that one of the games was bugged on hers.

I've had a 6230 for about 6 months now, not had any problems with it at all. I'll probably upgrade it to the 6230i when it gets released.

I've had similar problems on Vodafone 3G with the brand new 'best phone available' Sharp 902. Great phone, great features unless you need to know when someone texts you, or want to receive texts, or want to download vids, or want to see video news, or want your 3 free download music tracks, or.......

Did same as you rang Vodafone who checked known issues and added mine to it?

My phone is currently at Vodafone being fixed, however i've lost all my contacts, texts, ringtones (not cheap), vids (ahem!?!). And what did they give me to use, a SAGEM!!!!

P.S Don't bother e-mailing them, i sent a rather snotty one two months ago about the aweful quality of their £3.50 ringtones and got precisely nothing back off them!

CRAP!!!!

I got a k700i about 2 months ago and again it stopped getting texts about 1 week ago. Spoke to voda and was told to take it into the nearest shop, they would change it. Took it in and looked a pillock when he said no chance. Spoke to voda again and they said we will send one out tomorrow (last friday). Still not arrived. Going to ring them again tomorrow

Sent mine back, they are exchanging it, today.

They think its the handset.

If this one is pooh, its going back too.

I have heard lots of people on 3G phones are having signal problems, maybe there is a general problem with 3G phones ?

Result Yoza

Think I may finally have a result of sorts too. Eventually got to speak to someone with a working computer who is sending me a new phone (Nokia ) for tomorrow by courier. Need to send my old one back to them today by special delivery and they will refund the postage costs.

Tried to push for an S700i, but only managed to haggle down to a £70 premium. I'd heard the problem was still evident on the S700i too so gave it a miss, not worth the £70 risk.

They are going to chuck in some extras and also credit my account for the lack of service I have received.

Lets see what happens tomorrow . . . .

Hmmmmmm, I have a problem.

VodaFone told me to exchange handset and video port with the courier.

Courier left boxes at reception, and fecked awf.

What to do.

LOL Shame you never received your new phone. Perhaps a quick call to them to see what happened to it ?
