Need some tips for the Gee Gees
Going to the Gold Cup on Friday with loads of mates, and I want to appear like I know what I'm doing . Thing is, I can't be bothered to do any research!
Sooooo, is anyone on here into racing and if so, got any tips??
These are the races:
14:00 ‘The JCB Triumph Hurdle Race’
14:40 ‘The Sponsored Novices’ Hurdle’
15:15 ‘The totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup Steeple Chase’
16:00 ‘The Christie’s Foxhunter Steeple Chase Challenge Cup’
16:40 ‘The Johnny Henderson’
17:20 ‘The Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle Race’
Need some wins to pay for the night out in Basingstoke afterwards!

I'm going down for Weds, Thurs and Friday. May need to sell the Impreza afterwards, or may be buying a new one on Saturday!!!
I haven't looked as far ahead as Friday, yet, but easy things to do are to try and digest most of the racing post in the morning, try and watch the morning line on C4 in the morning and evening, bear in mind favourites have poor chances in some races, often as low as 30%, so try and look for value each-way bets (over 20-1, I go for a win under 16-1) and like another post, if a lot of money is going on a horse (the price is shortening dramatically) someone is very confident!
If a horse has won within 7 days and avoided a penalty from the handicapper, it can often be worth a look. Over three miles or more, the horses highest in the handicap (1,2,3) can often defy the weight.
Although I don't follow tips from the papers, The Sun can be quite good, and the Racing Post (pricewise) can also put a few in. Don't be afraid to have more than one bet in each race, too! (Don't back them all!)
You can be sure that Martin Pipe will train a lot of winners, and Ruby Walsh will ride a few good winners.
Or just look at the colours and keep your fingers crossed..... Which is often the most profitable way to go!!

I went a few years ago and had 6 winners in 6 races, including a forecast. Ended the day with VERY healthy profits and at the time i didnt have a clue what i was doing. I went with some guys who were really into their racing and at the start of the day i was asking them what they fancied and by the end of it they were asking me!
Moral of the story? If your lucks in, your lucks in!!
All the best..

Cheers guys.
I think I'll probably go with the 'back the horses whose names you like' method !
Alas, it will all have to be done from the betting shop now as I have gone and got MUMPS! Don't want to give it to all my mates, so not going now.
