When I did it a few months back they give you 2 weeks after the expiry to do it. That was what the woman at the dvla said anyhow.

What if you always take your car to a car wash and pay some chav a fiver to do it rather than waste an hour of your own time?

Glad of this thread though. I need to re-SORN my old Escort, so thanks.

I got chased for SORN once, told them I'd filled the form in and posted it to the address given. Not my problem if they didn't receive it

but were you using the car?
Also i dont really want to do that, cos i was done for doing 38 in a 30 day after boxing day,so to say i wasnt using my car would mean me lying on a legal declaration.

just want to be able to tax the **cking thing!!!!!!!

Same here, of course I filled out the form and sent it away

Not my fault that the postal service is a sham

Did you ever hear from them? I've just put my Landy back on the road and forgot to sent the SORN in so hopefully this tactic will work for me too, given that I've just taxed it today.

No m8

They wouldnt have a leg to stand on these days with the state of the postal service, would they? So until they start asking for recorded delivery they can kiss it for the odd time they dont get one

Same happened to me with an allegedly unsubmited SORN declaration. I got the notice of a fine and the form to fill in if you have taked it.

I just wrote "SORN declataion sent by post" in the box for "which post office did you tax it at" and filled the rest in properly. Not heard a thing in 10 months or so now. But that could just be because the post office lost my court summons
