Didn't this start soon pretty much as soon as we headed over to Iraq without UN approval, or was that another one?

Thumbs down

It's just another sado excuse for people who don't like Blair or think they can improve their own position by throwing mud at him!

All these death statistics seem to ignore how many of his own people Saddam was killing on a yearly basis. the numbers killed in the war pale into insignificance in the light of those.

As for those in the armed forces & their families who are bringing charges of of injustice... Sorry I was unaware the King's shilling system had been brought back in. I thought people applied to join the armed forces and were well trained and rewarded for the work they did. If soldiers aren't expecting to ever risk their lives I think they could justifiably complain that the job wasn't properly explained to them when they took it on!

Mud?? People have short memories, Blair took us to "war" in Iraq on the pretense that Saddam had WMD and could use them in 45 mins.

At the time I was inclined to think Iraq probably did have WMD of some kind and while they may not have deployed them, it would be an easy route for terrorists to get their hands on them.

It has since come to light that the "intelligence" used to make the decisions was flawed. The question is, where does the buck stop. Is TB prepared to stand up and say that the people that support him got it wrong and he is sorry about it? Is he heck, he keeps saying he still thinks it was right to invade although the reasons were bogus. He is finding new ways to justify it. If the UN had any bite I would be expecting them to take action for us illegally attacking Iraq.

All these death statistics seem to ignore how many of his own people Saddam was killing on a yearly basis. the numbers killed in the war pale into insignificance in the light of those.
I see, because Sadam killed loads of Iraqis, it's alright for us to do the same??

Well trained yes, well paid for risking your life, that's debatable and the quality of the kit that is issued is certainly questionable in comparison to what the American get at least. I assume you are referring to the RMP issue above, in which case I think the "big" issues are:
1) Were procedures followed - seems possibly not
2) Could the procedures be improved to prevent a similar incident - quite possibly.

Now if you are suggesting that we should not investigate an unfortunate situation to see if things can be changed to avoid something similar from occuring in the future then you are one callous person.

Oh God - not again!!! Don't you people ever get bored of trotting out the same old statements, however valid you feel they may be?

Regards,

tiggers.

You're somewhat selective in attacking certain "old statements", Tiggers.

Look at 99% of the threads on SN - they all come round full circle.

Why should Blair get away with lying and taking this country into an illegal war?

A bit of the old kettle calling the pot black there I'm afraid. I'm equally afraid that this issue won't be swept under the carpet no matter how many Olympic bids or other 'feel good' techniques may be employed to help us to 'move on'.

Yeah OK I see what you're saying, but this one comes up nearly every day. Surely the point of any discussion like this is to change people's minds on the subject being discussed. I would imagine that you have probably done that by now for anyone who's mind can be swayed. Therefore what is the point of continuing to discuss it unless it makes you feel better which is fine I guess.

As for the illegal war bit you'll have your chance next year to voice your opinion by way of an election.

I wonder if Mr "Mick" can tell us how many people were murdered by SH and how many were killed in the Iraq war, stiill going on of course. Not to forget the destruction of the country and its infrastructure. Dont forget an estimate of the people who will be killed in the future by the terrorrist factions which have now formed in Iraq as a direct consequence of attacking Iraq.
