Default This Winter

Have had four seprate people say that we are in for a particularly cold winter this year, dont know why and its not exactly been cold yet as its well into November and no sign of frost so where are they hearing this, perhaps they have seen the Day after Tomorrow and thought it was a forecast ?

when I stepped outside this fine morn at 5 past 8 it was nice and mild.

at 8 past 5 it was bloody freezing!

Probably something to do with the wet summer, still lots of moisture, lots of cloud etc.....

maybe?

Yes, some proper snow would be nice but I am still at a loss to work out where this 'Worst winter in living memory' stuff originates, perhaps its from a four year old ?

Christmas day will of course be the usually mild and drizzily day just to keep it traditional.

Had a look on the Met office website and there is no mention in the long range forecast, and no, looking at a Motorbike is not a good idea, regardless of the weather, damn good fun but never one of anybodies better ideas !

Cold? in the UK? Pah! Get your collective ***** out here to experience *proper* cold. It's warm at the moment, but should be a nice -15 to -25 in about 3 weeks time, lovely

All we need to do is wait until the Gulf Stream switches off and then we will have a ski resort in the pennines.

Bit worried about all the X5 drivers, what happens when it snows and they can actually use the 4wd system, some will die of smugness I am sure.

Indeed! -25 without the wind chill factor, -45 with last winter. A bit further North, it's so cold, they don't even bother with the wind chill factor.

Think www.metcheck.com is responsable for that one, this type of long range forecast is very unreliable. If it happens they'll say told you so, if it doesn't it'll never get mentioned.

Although the site is very good for specific short term forecasts, especially if you a outdoors type.

And MetCheck didn't go overboard this time (like they usually do). It just happened the media got hold of it and blew it right out of proportion.
