Pretty sure it's £399 for the box, unless you're looking at getting multiroom etc.

The normal Sky+ box is about £180, I don't see why this one is so much more expensive, the sales gimmick is the larger hard disk and they only cost £60. Not what I'd call value for money Sky

If you do a search, there was a thread on here a while back about replacing Sky+ hard disks for bigger capacities.

Cheers.

I reckon a sky+ service linked to a central storage area would be a good idea - gigs of movies and no very expensive 'ardware to purchase that gets superceded every 3-6 months!!

thats easy enough to do. just use a pc with a dvb satelite receiver and draggonware type app, then just use a network storage device.

Sky + is a rip off, you have to pay the £10 a month sky + subscription or take the top package. When you stop paying the turn off the sky + features of the box.

How is it a "rip-off"?
Plenty of people seem to think it's the best thing since sliced bread in terms of personal video recording....

You don't seriously expect Sky to offer a service for free that they've spent lots of money developing in R&D costs etc??? Also, the competition is not great - certainly no mainstream product to rival it in terms of ease of use & integration with the sky box.

You're paying for the service. It is good business sense to charge for services which offer something over & above the standard product.

Well I've got sky+ 20 (pretended to be a sky staff member when they were giving away free boxes to staff!).

And yes its the dogz dangliz - the mrs never misses an episode of emmerdale or corri

However I have it set on a series link for Top Gear and 5th Gear, Extreme Machines, Amercian Chopper, Monster Garage etc etc

Ok , so is there a DIY hard disc upgrade out there or is anyone charging for doing this and I suppose there is a chance that Sky will be able to detect it!!!!!!!!!!

Yes there are plenty of Hard disks that fit in the Sky+ box. I have a 120GB Maxtor, giving 60 hours.

The phone line is disconected, so maybe they won't be able to detect the upgrade?

No you don't. I've just got Sky+. My monthly subscription is £31 a month (Sky World and Sky Sports). It is not the top package by any means. You only pay the £10 Sky + subscription if the package you have is less than £31 a month. How exactly is this a rip off (incidently, I now have a better channel package than under NTL and it's cheaper)?

I would suggest doing some research first before posting
