Question What's a good house phone?

We want a new phone, the criteria are,
  • Needs to be cordless
  • Has to have an answerphone
  • Needs presets
  • Twin pack
  • caller display

I'm swaying towards this one but I'm not sure I want to spend that much

Cheers!

No idea how good or otherwise your choice is, but I do know that (as is the way with all things digital) a couple of years ago I paid a bit more for a three station digital setup without answering machine. A couple of years before that I'd paid around the same amount for an analogue cordless phone with digital answering machine.

Try Kelkoo for some price comparisons and alternatives.

The Phones4U home phone deal gives you a decent free cordless phones for just trying their phone deal, then you just cancel after a month

But if you want a proper decent house phone then best look at comet and currys etc to see which feels good etc

Whatever you choose, don't throw away your corded phone. It's pretty annoying during power outages to have no landline phone that works.

Thanks

I like all the Panasonic stuff I already have, I know where I'm at with it

I hadn't even considered the power cut thing, thanks for that!

I picked up the quads for £90. This is when Argos had a special offer.

Are yes, I was forgetting that the UK has 99.99% coverage and a decent mobile phone service. When there was a rather big power cut here last year, the mobile phone network couldn't keep up and mobiles were useless for some time also. I sometimes don't get a signal in Toronto during normal operation as it is.

I work for a telco provider, and used to work for a telco.

there is some dumb arsed law about not having a phone that works in a powercut if you have a telephone, its in the BT Ts&Cs and normally in the manual of the dect phones.

My choice is bang & olufson beocom range. Ive had my setup for 5 years and it is still light years ahead of the other dect phones.

if you want decent phones at a good price the BT branded ones are also very good. think you can get a answerphone/handset and additional handset for about £80
