Question San Miguel - still available?

Used to get through a "reasonable" amount of the stuff in 1 litre bottles and have been known to clear the stock of a supermarket out a couple of times when there's been an offer on

Is it being discontinued in this large size? All we seem to see now is either ikkle bottles or cans and then it's the "premium" version only which I'm not keen on - tastes a bit perfume-y / flowery

Local Tesco and Sainsbury's haven't had any for ages...

Haven't tried the smaller places yet - too many memories of being charged extortionate amounts for one or two cans out of a fourpack as a "youngster"

Used to drink gallons of the stuff when I worked in Hong Kong a few years back - mind you, that was their own version and much better than the spanish crap you get here !!

Drinking one right now!

Our local 'Bargin Booze' does a crate of 24 x 330ml bottles for £12.99

Brings back memories of drunken beach parties in Spain...

I bought a 1 litre (screwtop) bottle in my local Sainsbury only a couple of weeks ago.

You can still get 'em

Supermarket doorstep protest coming up until I get my supply?

(unless it's the zenophobic Yorkshire lot not putting up with "foreign muck" )

I was knocking back bottles at 12pence in the phillipines

and was outraged at the 60 p per bottle in a rather posh

Gentlemans club

As long as you steer clear from the draught stuff on sale in the UK - it's brewed in the UK and is nothing like San Mig, it's really not good

Even my Carlsberg rep (who tries to sell it to my pub!) admits it's not worth having on the bar!! Why do they bother with the brand name if what they are selling is not the same stuff???

lordharding - are you sure they were girls...?

at least san miguel has a bit of "bite / sharpness" to it unlike some of the standard slop lagers in this country - it tastes more european

I started supping it after a pint on draught near Glastonbury on hols last year - can't stand carlsberg / carling but am used to stellavision
