You don't find it so bad, because you're an adult. A small child buying a bag of candy, maybe one who has watched the terrible events of 9/11 on TV, thinks emotionally & cannot rationalise that it's just a plastic toy.

you underestimate kids...assuming they werent involved/knew someone i dont think many kids would give it that much thought?
my girl was 6 at the time, my son 2.......she understood what happened but doesnt loose sleep over it and the 2 year doesnt have any more awareness of it than i had of the JFK shooting when i was a kid.
a 6 year old doesnt know what 3000 people looks like....my kid cried more when her hamster died - as iwould expect.

No. I am saying the depiction of two buildings with a plane inbetween is neither offensive, but people overreact, and say OH MY GOD THAT IS SO BAD - BAN IT NOW!!!!!
The one with Osama is offensive, because it definately refers to 9/11.

I don't believe it is irrational or unexpected that offense could be felt about this novelty item. People reflect differently on matters like this.
What this leads to is another matter.

Do you think that a child would automatically assume this refers to 9/11? Does every airplane they play with refer to lockerbie? Or gun refer to Dunblane?
NO. It is the parents outrage that creates these situations. I do not believe that a small child will look at the toy with the aeroplanes and the buildings and click 9/11 straight away. It would be the parents that did that. The Osama toy however, is somewhat different as this cannot be construed as anything else but a slight to those that died on 9/11. We need to think objectively on things like this people.
Its this kind of blind rage that allows the government to lead us into wars that we should not be fighting. If we all took a step back from the situation, and didn't judge before we have thought about things like this, then maybe then innocent soldiers would not be dying in Iraq.
Look at the countries that have been 'liberated' on a map. You have Afghanistan and Iraq. Between these countries is Iran.
Does it not *ASTOUND* you that the US are now asking the UN to sanction Iran?
Open your eyes people. The toys may offend, but we are being tricked.

If we take the view of banning things like this then why not ban toy guns etc as surely the kids will have seen things like the Russian siege etc which resulted in horrific consequences.
Chip.
