I have never read such a true and accurate depiction os Staines in my life! I lived in the area for 20 years (live in Spain now) and was apalled at what a **** hole it has become recently. All u say is true, it was never the nicest of places, but walking hrough the town centre on a Saturday the other day, I couldn't believe how ruff the general populus have become.
Tracksuits, WHITE trainers, gold chains/rings and awkwardly positioned caps were the order of the day, oh and lots of kids pushing prams!
What a sad state of affairs, glad I moved away.

Firstly I would just like to say that I loved the artical and it had me in fits of laughter all the way through it. Although I realise that there is a serious side to what you are saying it does seem more common place in most towns or are we just getting older or is this the same beast as always just wearing different clothes.
I worked in Staines for about 10 years and at that time visited most of the pubs. Me and my friends always thought the girls in Staines had larger breasts than anywhere else. (thought is was something to do with the water) We used to go in the back bar of the Blue Anchor and then over to the pub on the other side of the road, (cant remember the name of it at the moment.) then at half past ten we would run over the bridge to the Swan. I will always remember this because at that time the drinking laws in Middx were till 1/2 past 10 but the Thames was the county division between Middx and Surrey where last orders was 11pm.
