Question My jaw clicks when I eat..

really quite loudly. Other half says I had better go get it checked out but it's normal for me as it has gone on as long as I can remember.

Is it normal?

Please, no jokes about lock jaw

Claire,

If I move my jaw side to side it clicks really badly (does it when eating aswell sometimes) it started after I was beaten up about 4/5 years ago and got punched repeatedly in the jaw - hospital said it wasn't broken but because it 'clicks' they said it probably was

Don't know if you've ever been punched in the jaw?

Matt

P.S LOL @ the lock jaw comment

I have had a knock or two to the jaw, but nothing got broken (or bruised for that matter)! Doesn't happen to girlies as much Maybe its all those clouts across the lug I was on the recieving end of as a youngster!!

Yeah it tends to be more 'boys' than 'girlys' . I was sat parked in my car talking to a mate parked next to me and a bloke walked between the cars and starting beating the **** outta me while shouting ;I'm going to f*in kill you!) I didn't even say anything or get out the car (couldn't move). My face was a right mess (some would say still is ).

Can't see what a doctor or even physio can do though for a jaw any medical people care to correct me?

Matt

P.S How was the pork?

Having a clicking jaw means that your ears will gradually fall off.

mine clicks aswell, and like patt it was down to a smack in the gob(younger stoopid reckless days )

has got better over time as my jaw muscles have got bigger (not david coulthard stylee, but bigger than when i got a slapping).

might just be one of these things that 'goes away'. or your jaw bones will wear out and your lower jaw will hang on the ground, nothing to worry about

Yes Claire completely - had never seen him before and never have since after he had finished with me he walked round the front of the car (was reversed in space) to get my at the time g/f, when he did I drove forwards into him and straight to A&E, driving was dodgy as I could hardly see due to my eyes being nearly shut because of swelled/cut face, there was no gap between my top lip and bottom of nose (think about that)

Matt (pretty again now)

P.S Pork tends to be *cough* so I'm told

She who should be obeyed (retired dentist) says mention it to your dentist next time and he may refer you to an oral surgeon if necessary. DL

Mine does it quite badly (other people can hear it while I'm eating), it's because I grind my teeth really badly in my sleep. I have to wear a gumshield type thing when I sleep now. It was my dentist that told me that I grind my teeth, she could tell by the wear pattern!
