Amsterdam
Will be stopping off in Amsterdam this Sunday (arriving 12.00 midday) and I will have about 5 hours to have a wander.
It's been ages since I've been there.
Does anyone know what the best way to travel from Schipol to Centraal station area (the train IIRC are there any faster options - not worried about cost), how long it takes (~30 mins IIRC)?
What to do on the Sunday (I need to get back on a plane at 19.30 in a half concious state....)
I fancy that hooters place near the red light for a few beers, and anywhere else with a bit of 'culture' that might take my fancy ...
A visit to a decent cafe. (rembrantsplein?)
A bit of food.
Any suggestions?

That aside the train is the way to do it as it only takes 15 mins or so.

Train takes about 15 minutes and is cheap, taxi gets stuck in traffic and takes 10 minutes longer than train. Although . . . Amsterdam . . . traffic . . . Sunday afternoon? It might be really quiet! Personally I'd go with the fancy double-decker trains they have over there which are always on time.

Definately the train - about 5 euros (cannot remember exactly how much) quicker and cheaper than a cab.
As for culture, can certainly recommend Barneys coffeeshop for green stuff (try the Sweet Tooth, finest you can get IMO). Or the Old Church Coffeeshop in the RLD (near Fantasyland) for something more solid (Royal Cream is a must!) and a good view over the RLD.
Have fun, wish i was there!!

<Ant n dec> oooo..Ah cannae wait man </Ant n dec>
oooohhh...I'm getting all excited!
Train it is then.
Anything else 'constructive' I should try to cram in (thinking about the RLD and wondering what I could get up to down there.... ). Is it worthwhile going to see a show?

Just came back from a weekend in Amsterdam and like veryone is saying - the train from Schipol to Centraal Station is the best way to go. I think it was one 3.50 Euros per person one way.
