Football. Why on BBC and ITV at same time.

I find it odd that in these days where your being pressured to have digital TV, be it freeview, cable or satelite and that there are multitudes of channels. Why can't the BBC, or ITV have a dedicated sports channel??
Stick all the sports on there and then we can watch the normal BBC1, 2 and ITV etc uninterruped by sports. More importantly - Top Gear would be on too!! Instead of being shoved to the sidelines

I think Greece beating Portugal shopuld be repeted every night now for the next 8 weeks at about 8 pm on BBC 1 and ITV - It's only be like watching those w*nk soaps with their repeat storylines of misery and utterly ridiculious contrived mis-understandings that they think is a "story line"..
At least the football was interesting!

I flicked between them. ITV showed the opening ceremony stuff with Nelly Furtardo and stuff while the BBC focused on Ian Wright talking the same old guff.
Did you hear the BBC commentator? He kept calling one of the Greek players by his first name - Stelios, lazy bugger.
Greeks have gone crazy here, as I was driving back just now, they've taken over the roads.

There must be 7 or 8 soaps with different time slots spread over the full week, but as soon as ANY sporting tournament is on, people start crying. Why don't the BBC put Eastenders on at the same time as Coronation Street on a Monday?? It's so we get another half hour of drivel to sit and endure, or face the cold shoulder from the missus when we turn Sky on for the 8 o'clock football game.
If it wasn't for sport, TV wouldn't be worth watching.

It did occur to me that no matter how much people bid for the rights to show tournaments, it should be a standard clause that, if your country's team is in the final, you should be able to broadcast that on a free channel to the populace. Isn't that part of public service TV?
This occurred to me, living in Lisbon, when I flicked through my 60 cable channels from all across Europe, and could only find the match on encoded ones.
