Whos got it and what channels do you get?

I'm looking into it as NTL and Sky are to expensive and we don't watch enough TV to varant paying £35 a month.

Are there better boxes than others? A better channel selection pack?

Cheers
Darren

Its not too shabby in my opinion, I bought a Sagem :O box for 35 quid out of Asda Walmart about a year ago, no probs whatsoever. Had to buy an uprated digital ariel about 30-40 quid. Think you need to have a goodish signal on channel five as a guide to whether you will get a signal on freeview.

Channels:

Beeb1,2,3,4 News24,Cbeebies etc and Interactive which is good for the footy to get five live commentary instead of that **** Motson!( speakin as a Scotsman )
Itv,Itv2
Couple of music channels (TMF The Hits),
Uk History, FTn, Sky News, Sky sports news and a few more.

Been well worth it IMHO, not as good as sky obviously but then again U dont have to pay 40 quid a month for the decent package, but a lot better than council telly

I know no-one likes teaching people to suck eggs, but the type 'freeview' into the search facility above, and you'll get reams and reams of threads on this.....

The bandwidth isn't the problem.....the point is, there's a wealth of information on here, which doesn't take too much effort to dig up.

The best contributors won't contribute to every thread on freeview (of which there are stacks), and so the more you search, the more you'll find.

Well I guess I'm not one of the best contributors then, just thought I would help someone out.
Would probably have been more helpfull if you had run a search yourself and posted the results u got for Darren to see, it would have taken just as much effort as it did to post what you have already.
Anyways, he hasnt done a search, you have informed him he will get plenty of info if he does do a search, so hopefully his questions will have been answered.

No, because I don't know what he's looking for specifically.

I have Sky digital in the lounge but also installed a NetGem I-Player (39.99 + VAt from makro) in the bedroom at the weekend.

Aerial is in the loft - gets sent to lounge for VCR/Sky to be added. then goes back to loft and is distributed to the bedrooms. Existing aerail/setup gave good reception on all but 1 digital MUX in the bedroom. New aerial (still loft mounted) gave enough signal to get all digital in all the bedrooms.

I like the I-Player, seems to work well as a digibox with a reasonably intuitive menu. I also have internet access (via USB ethernet) and the web browser works ok. never going to be great on a 14" TV but seems to do the Job ok.
