Unhappy Any TV repair electricians willing to help me?

hope you can help .. my beloved TV decided to go AWOL last night, basically while watching it it turned itself off and a plume of smoke appeared from the back, so straight away the TV was switched off at the plug and I curled into a ball with my hands over my face and muffled NOOOOOOOOOO!

The TV is a PHILLIPS 28" Widescreen (model number 28PW6332/05), ive since removed the back to see what the problem is. A small ceramic capacitor has blown, confirmed by switching the set back on and then watching the capacitor smoke again, at the same time the standby light flashes and a high pitched sounds emits.

I have since removed/clipped the capacitor from the circuit board and been looking around for a replacement (maplins, rs) but haven’t had any real luck.

The only markings I have to go on are the following ...

from the capacitor:

HR R
102K
2KV
Cm88 (m in a C - logo)

from the circuit board:

2433

Can anyone help???? please!!

LOL

i could give phillips a ring but the circuit board is the main board of the TV and would probably cost ££££££ to replace.

house insurance .. will probably be last resort.

I would like to try and replace the capacitor if possible first.

thanks for the suggestions though

102k is the value..

but 2kv is a high voltage for a cap.

thanks for the info David.

I've just read the info from another capacitor that sits along site the blown one on the board, it also reads 2KV but using a value of 152k.

as mentioned Im trying to source a replacement, but with not knowing the value (pF) its hard to get an exact replacement, or am I missing something here .. nearest one I can find is from RS ..
see here

cheers, Lee
