fireplace help......
just bought a new house and need a fireplace in the front room....
the living room has no gas supply, no chimney breast, and the wall where the fire is to go is not an outside wall.
what are the best options????
i've been told for a flu-less i will need a breast and for a power flu i will need to channel through the living room floor.....bott at a costly option!!
is this right.....or shall i just forget the headache and get a wall mounted electric jobby????

Catalytic fire
Try here: http://www.focalpointfires.plc.uk/
They do catalytic fires which require a vent to the room and a gas supply and not a lot else
Quote from their website:
"Excelsior flueless gas fires require no chimney or flue and are 100% Efficient.
Catalytic technology has been utilised to "clean" the products of combustion and as a result, this fire can be installed almost anywhere there is a natural gas supply (Excludes bedrooms or bathrooms)"
Dimplex have just brought out/just bringing out a hyronic fire (Mirage Hydronic Optiflame Stove), which goes in line with your heating system (in place of a radiator), but also has an electric element to boost the output if required. http://www.dimplex.co.uk/ Can't see any info on their website, but picked up info off their stand at Interbuild show a few weeks back.
Have a look at some electric fires - they're not as bad as they used to be!
