Widescreen TV Advice
Hi everyone
I’m looking for a new widescreen TV and I’m after some advice and information.
The spec I’m after is:
32” widescreen
50 / 100 Hz
integrated digital TV
Any recommendations for web sites and suitable TV’s would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Tony

I was so pleased with my 29" 4:3 Philips telly, I bought it's 16:9 successor. Still got the 4:3 in the bedroom, and a mighty fine picture it is too.
I like the Philips picture, it's quite soft, easy on the eye, never grainy or too digital looking.
Lurvely.
All the best
Matt

toshiba are doing a 42" rear projection in argos now for £799. i bought one when they were £999 and i thought i got a bargain. save your self some dough and buy one of these with a freeview box and enjoy the real cinema experience. Not much good though if you are living in a 6x8 besit

Sony are on a bit of a downer at the mo'. Poor customer service and average products. Philips Pixel Plus are very good along with Panasonic. For good prices use any shopping search facility such as www.priceguideuk.com

I've only ever been disappointed with Sony in the past - I won't touch them now. Too many features, too much technology, not enough quality or reliability.
For what it's worth I have a four year old Loewe Credo 32" set and have yet to see a better picture anywhere - although a Sharp LCD screen did catch my eye a few months back. The trouble with that was it was so good, it showed up the individual blocks that make up a DVD image

Maybe it's just me but anything less than 42" just don't look right in the widescreen format.
Haven't looked at TV refresh rates but monitors you want at least 72Hz for anything that changes rapidly (e.g. FPS games or video clips) - less than that and you get noticable flicker.
Bonkers.

Must echo Andy's comment on Sony displays - all I have seen have big linearity & other tube setup problems ('wobbly lampost' syndrome). I remain a big fan of Sony generally but have always had Tosh TV's (other than my 14" Sony that, from new, bounces on cuts from dark to light scenes - and that's the 3d replacement!) D
