Passports
I'm busy today with threads aren't I!
Anyway...
another thing I learnt yesterday at work was that to employ ANYONE now, there needs to be proof of residence, i.e. a passport or birth certificate. This 'should' put an end to all the illegal immigrants wandering our streets and draining our economy! That's if all employers stick to the new guidlines!
My opinion...too little too late for labour!!! out they go!

the birth certificate will gaive a place or country of birth ie non uk
and the passport does not have an address,, just again a place of birth..
the only one that gives an address is the driving licence,, and how many of XXX actually have them

I had to show a copy of my passport (not DL) to my new employer when I started at the beginning of last summer, which was sent to head office along with NI number (copy of card) to show I was a legal UK resident, and IMHO it's a good idea...
