Default passport immigrants

ok, before you ask it is not me.

if a foreign guy (say asian) wanted to stay in england, permanent, wanting a passport.

normally easiest way, is to marry and passport is in their hands.

however if they do not want to do that (marry).
and they have a relative ie cousin/auntie/brother already in England with a passport etc.
can they apply one for them.

Your English isn't that of a Brit.

Is this a general question or are you after serious advise?

I think you can get an ancestoral permit for a limited amount of time, depending on where you are coming from.

To gain a UK passport you must apply for it yourself. A relative can't do it on your behalf.

You would need to go down the marriage route to gain permanent residence. If you have some worthwhile skill then the UK is very much in need of more immigrants like you as there are a large proportion of talentless drongos already living here.
The UK needs good people, perhaps we should operate an exchange scheme, we can send them some of our dross (thinking of the deadwood here-like say civil servants/car salesman etc) in exchange for their best?

Not sure about passports, but my furrin wife is married to me and she doesn't qualify for British CITIZENSHIP (isn't that the same thing?) until she has lived in the UK for 5 years. So although we had a wedding in the UK and have been together for the 2 yrs since then, it don't count for jack.

However, I knew a guy born and brought up in S Africa, but because his mum was British, he got one (relatively) immediately, and moved to UK to find work. His wife didn't get a passport, she got some sort of residence permit.

So from my experience, forget the marriage thing.

However, if you're good enough to have a chance of getting an Olympic medal, they might just speed the process up, eh Zola?

Edit - NACRO's comment reminds me of the 'B' Ark in Hitch-Hikers... marketing executives and telephone sanitisers...

I suggest contacting the immigration service or the passport office.

Don`t think I`d want to get invovled to be honest.....as my mum always says "if in doubt...leave it out". Never a truer word spoken.....works for me in all kinds of situations.

Joan.

If we get rid then let's just hope we aren't wiped out by a virulent disease caused by an unsanitised public call box.

Maybe I've missed something, but I don't see anywhere that wwp8 has mentioned the colour of his skin. How do you know that he isn't white?

Think this in the first post has set the ball rolling.

Personally I don't care what the skin colour, unless they have something positive to bring to the country they shouldn't come in. And if they are seeking asylum due to persecution etc, their claim for asylum should be handled by the first "safe" country they get to, not travel through all of Europe, turn up in Britain and then put in a claim. It should be lodged at the first EU country and they can request where they would like to go and would be given the appropriate paperwork etc. Make things easier, no paperwork from entering the EU, straight on a plane and back to where they came from.
