Help!
Three of us are off to Belgium tomorrow. One of the girls can't find her passport and thinks she might have thrown it away, by mistake of course.
What can she do? The passport office web site suggests that application for lost passports are not available under the same day service.

The best thing to do is probably get her to go to the nearest passport office in person and explain whats happened, you may need to apply for a new passport which you can do on the same day but if i remember rightly there is an extra charge for this. Good Luck

She needs to get to the passport office and get a new one. Might be a bit busy this time of year though.

Passport office is sympathetic, but will treat her as a new applicant, and take at least a week.
Do you actually need a passport to go to Europe these days?

As it's EU travel, if you turn up at the airport with tickets and some form of ID (photo driving licence might be good) and explain the situation you should get away with it. You may need to explain again at the Belgian end, but I've seen this done several times.
So long as she's European, has a return ticket, and can prove who she is, she should be able to go on holiday without a passport, but with maybe a bit of hassle.

Handcuff her between the two of you that have passports & say she's an "illegal" that has taken up the Government sponsored voluntary repatriation scheme.
They will probably give you a seat upgrade & carry your hand luggage out to the plane for you.

Hello
The passport office has changed recently, they only like to accept appointments and are grotty about giving passports on the same day.
If you whinge enough, and alternatively plead and threaten (not joking) then you may get it done. I got my 3 month old daughters passport in two days even though it was "impossible" to do it in under 5...
Steve.

Thanks all
She spoke to the helpline in London and her local office in Cardiff and RyanAir. All of them said "sorry..no go"
She's now gone to work and me and the g/f are off for a romantic weekend
