Have a look at this one.

I stayed there a couple of years ago. The food was excellent! Right on the lakeside and with a swimming pool.

Si - Assuming that the wedding is on a Saturday, I'd recommend the Beech Hill for a two night stay. Take the Monday off and return home then. There are some great driving roads around there, so that's Sunday taken care of. Back to the hotel for a swim. Then a relaxed (and superb) meal in the evening. Home on Monday.

I had what was probably the best steak I have ever tasted while staying at that hotel.

That hotel used to be the Provincial Insurance training centre. As well as having training rooms, they also had bedrooms, restaurant, bar, etc. I've stayed there when it was the Provincial training centre and I was doing some work in their systems department.

Bedroom decor was of a better standard than the basic room at the Beech Hill, but the food wasn't as good. For Si's purposes, it has the advantage of being right in the centre of Kendal.

I can strongly recommend this place http://www.beechhouse-kendal.co.uk/index.html

Its very well situated, the interior design is exquisite, its spotlessly clean and is genuinely quite incredible value for money. If you can, go for one of the two deluxe rooms - you will not be disappointed!

Whilst they don't do food (except for an amazing breakfast), there are plenty of good places to eat in Kendal, which is a 5 minute walk.

Try the Castle Green Hotel, within walking distance of the town. Very nice accomodation and food, pub in its own grounds.

Only place I've stayed in the Lakes was here
http://www.holbeckghyll.com/
About £180 a night for the room, but includes a 7 course dinner, yes seven!
Some of the best food I've ever had. Mmm runny fois gras. Maybe not what you want after a wedding, but there you go.
If you're in the area make sure you go to the motor museum in Keswick
http://www.lakedistrictletsgo.co.uk/...tormuseum.html
They've got Knightrider's Kitt, FAB1, various Bond cars, Batmobile etc. superb

It have to the the biggest hill in the world to make a 1.2 Punto fun
It's called Dunmail Raise and it's a few miles north of Grasmere

Not much fun going up though in a 1.2...
