Just want a new pole set up on the chimney and a new aeriel installed.

I used to own a 3 story Victorian house and no one would install an aerial without putting up scaffolding - quotes 400 quid upwards!

In the end I climbed out the skylight and did it myself.

If you can access the chimney why not do it yourself, its pretty straight forward. If you buy a kit that uses steel cable and tensioners to go round the chimney you don't even need to drill any holes!

unless you fall off, of course.

yeah, obviously standard disclaimers apply!

I also painted the side wall of that house on a stepladder that was so steep (because of the narrow alley) I had to prop it against the neighbours house because when I got halfway up it started to lift away from the wall! My theory was that if it did go over backwards then I would just hang on until it hit the neighbours wall!

health and safety... pffft!

Red face

In the end I climbed out the skylight and did it myself
I think my @rse would have been knitting a pair of socks had I done that

We paid £118 last July for a high gain aerial, 6 way splitter/amplifier and installation. But then again, this is Wiltshire......

Cheers

It is an exciting job if you are not used to it and if you have the ladder go while you are on it like I did, then you are likely to be stuck with a crutch for the rest of your life as long as you only smash your hip up!

It is quite easy to fix the aerial mast to the chimney though with those wire straps as long as it is not difficult to get the wire around the chimney breast. The aerial can be bolted to the mast already with the coax lead attached of course. Not a bad idea to tie yourself to the chimney as well.

That seems a lot to have to pay to me, depends how difficult it is to get to your chimney I suppose. Its the sort of job I avoid these days!

I got a new aerial, sattelite, loft box and seven new aerial points fitted with all materials included for 270, that included 3 sky remotes as well, if you are in South Manchester try, ask for Craig if you ring, top bloke, turned up when he said, cant fault him
