Default AJM - Humane wildlife scaring technique

AJM, I have a useful device to ensure that your pond remains full of fish and scares of herons/cats etc.

It is a PIR equipped water based device that detects movement and squirts water at the offending animal, simple and humane.

Costs around £50, but well worth it and fun to watch it catch out friends looking into the pond, they get soaked!!!

Wouldn't it better if it was equipped with SAM's instead.

My Iraqi friend is selling them on the cheap

It's a Contech Scarecrow, intelligent animal control it says on the manual, the mods might be okay with this thread.

Website is www.scarecrowinfo.com.

Bradleys near York sell them mail order, if you need the number I'll find it for you.

Thanks Dan... quickly.... before some dullard grasses us up to Redkop! It doesn't really matter what the cost is as I will be recharging it to the owner as soon as I find out who that is!!!

The effect is both startling and immediate! Animals quickly get out of the area and avoid it in the future.
Tried something similar to keep our pooch off the flower beds and he just loves it. He can spend hours getting soaked playing in the water spray, until he finally gets bored and pulls it out of the ground and starts chewing on it.

You do of course need a water supply for it to work, but it is very effective and with different sensitivity settings you can set it so birds can still drink from the pond, but larger animals can't get anwhere near.

Olly's dog excepted that is. It works well on cats and birds though and I'm not sure that a dog has an instant desire to kill other animals, unlike cats.

He just goes for cats, and for some reason squirrels, think he may be worried about them stealing his nuts

It may work on rabbits, but moles is another matter! With the extra pattering of water on the earth it would probably attract more worms and hence more moles!!!

I'm sure you can get ultrasonic devices for moles that you stick in the ground, although I don't know whether they work in practise or not!
