Mice - Trapping and 'disposing' thereof

Mice - Trapping and 'disposing' thereof
I've got what I think are fieldmice in the garage.
I've done all I can to make an unappealing home by putting their food source -my fishing bait - in an old plastic dustbin etc.
They seem quite determined to eat everything else though.
What's a tried and tested method for wiping out the buggers?
Moany, bleeding heart liberals and animal rights activists need not apply.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried traps and/or poison in the garage?

Short of removing all contents of the garage and sifting through with a fine tooth comb, what can I do?

Used Poison last time...think it was called "Ratatack" or somthing like that.
My dad had one in his kitchen somewhere...couldn't find the bugger, plus the dozy fool always leave the doors open (from freezer/car/fridge...the idiot doesn't understand the the fact that doors don't always shut themselves ) So morris went for a field trip round the whole house at night too.
So with no hope of containing it, I had to put some poison down on the runs...look for where the droppings are. Got rid of it....just probably decomposing somewhere inside the sofa or similar now though

Kellogs Nutri Grain Strawberry, they go mad for it, we had a real problem with mice, so I got a humane trap, it aint very humane if you go on hols and come back to a moving mouse, moving but not under its own steam, I was dumping live mice up the road but I swear they were homing so I took to flushing them down the bog which gave them a fighting chance of a new life in the sewers. They may be cute but when you come to a brand new box of breakfast cereal and a live mouse pops out they loose their charm.
