Are you looking for fixed or variable rates? Is it likely that you'll want to pay additional chunks off the mortgage as you go along?

Sorry Mal, I've got to go (dinner party prep!) so can't take this any further right now. But you could do a lot worse than to look at http://www.charcolonline.co.uk/

You can do comparative searches; they're independent and very well regarded in the industry.

If you're prepared to look at longer term fixed 10+ years, Leeds & Holbeck are normally very competitive and, unusually, allow partial repayments without penalty. Go to http://www.leeds-holbeck.co.uk/mortg...rates_frm.html

Thumbs up

http://www.moneysupermarket.com

Very good site IMHO - also good for insurance quotes, loans and credit cards.

Other than that, Woolwich Openplan seems widely regarded as the best overall package: http://www.woolwich.co.uk/default.as...orflexible.htm I was receommended to this by a Financial Advisor as that's what he has - still has too. They also do discounts, special offers etc...

same situation with me and my misses.

we ended up with Halifax discounted for 2 yrs with a min of a 3% deposit although we put a lot more down. Next best one Abbey National/Northern Rock same kind of deal.

With the amount you have for deposit you won't have any problems. To be sure goto an Independent Mortgage advisor who don't charge for the service or you could end up paying.

happy hunting Adam

Lofi and Albert what rate are you paying. I just got a mortgage fixed for 2 years at 4.64% with the Chelsea building society. Went through a broker to get this deal but it cost me nothing.

Will be paying 3.29% (plus the extra quarter when A&L add it to their base rate) but that is a discount and is therefore variable, unlike your fixed. Derbyshire do a 2 year fixed for 4.24% (LTV 80%) and Cumberland do 4.69% (LTV 90%) fixed for 3 years. 4.64% is pretty good though.
