Almost-

I went to the ice-hotel in sweeded for christmas a few years back.
FANTASTIC!

Got a dog-sled ride from the airport to the hotel, 1hour or burning down icy paths with 10 psycoticly-fast dogs running about!

ice hotel is fantastic. Headed for the vodka bar, and had a few drinks with glasses made from blocks of ice.

Had a trip on skedoo's (SP) to see the northern lights, but never saw any. You've gotta be out in the cold, when it's -30 degrees!

had a fantastic time. If you've got kits, and can get loads of warm clothes their size (we brought all our ski gear, and the bloke laughted at us. We had to wear it all *as well as* more cold-weather gear!)

Thumbs up

went early last January for a week, as i was best man at a mates wedding out there. Stayed in a place called Levi which is in Finland, Lapland.

The sun never came up at all, and it was up to -35 degrees. The place had a fantastic atmosphere and id deffo go again.

Only thing is the men there were total letches and we had to literally prise more than one away from the women.

This time last year also they have a ceremony where they 'welcome the sun back', and there was a show in our hotel where there were bikini clad girls trooping around mmmmmmmmm

Loads of stuff to do like, the pretty pointless lake fishing (cut a hole in the ice and 'fish' with a bit of string with a hook on the end), huskey trips, skiddos, snowboarding skiing etc etc

The beer is called koff, and we never tired of going up to the bar ansd asking "four koffs please". Things arent cheap out there though, slightly more than they are here, but not much.

We stayed at the Levitunturi http://www3.inghams.co.uk/ski/FIN/LVI/I5774/index.html and it is literally a few minute walk to the slopes.

The christmas place is 2 hours south away by coach.

My mate stayed here http://www3.inghams.co.uk/ski/FIN/LVI/I5770/index.html for the second week while we went home, he said it was a better place to stay but a bit soulless.

All sounds good so far. Is there not a lot of daylight around christmas time then?

My dad took my brother and 2 sisters , i was a bit old ..(damn it) ... went to lapland and it was the most amazing time they said . Got to see the reindeer , santa (the proper one ..lol) .. but just being there ... scenery was amazing they said , plus whole lifestlye and xmas time etc..

I would say from what the kids said it is highly recommended.
