apparently they dont wear seatbelts because if there is an 'incident' it takes them longer to get out of the car/ protect the vip. strange thing to do but these guys obviously know what their doing.
if i remember rightly dianas bodyguard in paris wasnt wearing a seatbelt and thats why he survived, because he went through the windscreen of the car.

The bit where the VIP get's covered in bodyparts was one of the best bits IMHO. The problem with a lot of these shows is that they glamourise violence and guns. It's good for people to see just what an explosive or high-powered rifle round can do to the human body.
Maybe then most people will realise it's not like playing a playstation game.

Did you consult your memory...or did you just make it up?

I thought it was a lot of tosh. Boys & their toys
No-ones life, and I mean no-one, is worth that much. Anyway, as shown in the many examples, the bodyguards are pretty slow to do their job when the $hit hits the fan for real.....all very well in theory.....

V45 is correct ,the tunnell cameras apparently caught him belting up as they entered the tunnel, hence the conspiracy theory(i think he realised it was insane travelling at that speed through paris and decided to belt up).

That "Mac" bloke (the one with the tash) looks a fecking hard *******.
IIRC he was one of the team who stormed the Iranian embassy.
Did you know that 80% of the SAS are Scots?

Isn't "Mac" supposed to be the guy that always gets shown on tv on the balcony?
I think he was the guy putting the frame charge against the windows who then disappears behind the cloud of debris from the explosion.
John.

is it just me who thinks its a bit irresponsible telling everyone how our special service teams operate on tv which is worldwide. shouldn't we keep these things to ourselves even if it does make for interesting viewing

Aggree with the above, what a good way to show some half witted wannabe fundamentalist how to take out our state leaders/VIP's.
I enjoyed it though, interesting enough, but maybe a bit glamourised.

Speaking from first hand experience...
I would say that the programme last night was
1. A bit 'guns and ammo' but they had to make it over the top entertaining television for joe public. Obviously people are heavily armed when they work in Iraq and the like.
2. They didn't really give much away. They didn't go into any detail and missed quite a bit out, as there is alot more to it than that. Especially in the area of surveillance which is key
Best wishes
Steve
P.S. I do wish they would stop putting these programmes on. It is getting really tedious/ a cliche

I've had quite a bit of "first hand experience" myself, most of it involved keeping my little brother out of trouble at school

Sorry m8 that's it from a personal point of view.
Back to the TV programme
All these programmes are a bit over the top. I suppose it is just entertainment at the end of the day.
To give them credit they did say that CP work can be very boring and also touched on the extensive planning required. But that don't make good TV. Much was missed out and there was too much emphasis on guns.
People should view it as entertainment based around some of the facts of what the job entails.

It's all just common sense. Nothing to it. The tv program glamourised it a lot, as if it was some complex procedure only capable of being done by SAS.
If you were transporting someone that important in the UK, you would not be doing it by public road through towns etc, so really, it was all a lot of nonsense.
My original statement still stands, no-one is worth going to all that effort to protect.....

And they made no use of locl police.
Diana Death was due to her poor security. They lost control. The driver should have been told to drive with more care.Simple.
