if you choke on food is it possible for it to clear because you inhale the item into your lungs.....and would i be able to tell if i had?
please only answer if the answer is "its impossible"
answers like "you have 3 hrs before you collapse" would be bad!

I think it just breaks down in there and it'll come out somehow/sometime.....don't think you have anything to worry about...

If its small enough to inhale into your lungs then its small enough to cough back out again with a nice greenie sometime!

Tiggs, both explanations are roughly the same
ie, if it doesn't come out immediately, it WILL rot in there and come out eventually.

Depends if its a petit pois you have inhaled or a bloody great cigar!

The body may react differently depending on what the substance is. What kind of foreign object are we talking about here?

I'd have thought any food in the lung would cause irritation eventually and lead to coughing which would in turn clear it. Thats an opinion based on logic rather than medical knowledge btw

Your lunh should treat it as a foreign object and will try its best to make you cough it up.
Better see the gp if its hurting or is uncomfortable
