WTF?
I decided to try and buy one of those r/c heli things for a xmas toy
However when I went through the paypal stuff it told me at the end when it went to process it that I needed to enrol in PayPal's Expanded Use Programme which costs $1.95. So I pressed cancel and it just took me to the Paypal homepage. I have logged in with my details and its says there have been no tranactions. There better ******* not have been after p!ssing me about like that
I thought Paypal was free? This is the whole reason I have never used them before because of **** like this happening WTF are they playing at as mates who have used have never had to pay extra on top of the purchase price!!!
Please osmeone explain to me what its all about and why it wanted to charge me on top of the purchase price

I think you get that refunded when you use it for the first time. At the end of the day, it's only £2 for a bit of protection. What better options do you have - mailing cash?

If thats all it is then I don't have a problem with it but its not made clear to you and makes you think you are having to pay on top of the purchase price.
Also when you create your account are you supposed to log into Paypal and transfer money off your credit card into your Paypal account so you have a balance for purchases? If not whats the transfer thing for?
I hate ordering off the web and much prefer phoning up and doing it

Alright mate,
I've had loads of problems witrh Pay Pal recently. I signed up about 2 years ago and it was a nightmare then. I then went to buy somethign recently and I also also told that I had to upgrade to extended use thingy
What was not clear was that I can use the 4 digit code that I was given when I first took out my Pay Pal account 2 years ago. Instead I paid another $1.95 (it gets refunded later) onto my credit card and had to wait until I had my credit card statment. I then took my NEW 4 digit code and upgraded my Pay Pal account. Finally after 3 weeks I was finally able to pay the seller (from ebay).
Have you ever used Pay Pal before? If so use the 4 digit coe you got when you setup your account. If you have never used it before then upgrade your account to extended use adn pay the $1.95. It gets refunded back onto your credit card after your first use of Pay Pal.
I think that's it

Cheers mate
Does that mean it will keep the purchase waiting for 3 weeks though before it goes through? IE I will have to wait for my credit card staterment to come through with the 4 digit code on it to verify it?
I am now looking at buying the toy somewhere else which happens to be cheaper and doesn't use Paypal so thank **** it didn't work in the first place, saved me a tenner !

You have to wait until your credit card statment arrives in the post, or as Andy said, check it online (if you can).
It took 3 weeks for my girlfriends credit card statment to arrive Seller was a tad pissed at first
Lets have a look that the h'c.

my experience is that Paypal is cr4p
duplicate invoices - always having to check they don't duplicate taking the cash.
and having to **** about swopping money here there and everywhere.
+ I believe they've had alot of fraud problems (especially in USA)
only opened an account for ebay buying/selling
now closed it and will only transact in cheque/postal orders.
if that doesn't suit the other party involved - then so be it.
