Been spending some time recently researching the family tree and came across a German ancestor called Marya Delvard. Apparently she was a bit of a star in 1920s Berlin.
Anyways I've known about her for a while but found some time today to do a little more research and found her on the cover of a stamp!
Strange thing is I've also found a photo of her on the net and she looks just like my Gran when she was a young woman.
I'd love to get a copy of this stamp but haven't got a clue how I'd find one. It was issued on the 9th 5 2003 by I think the Croatian postal service (I know...)
Suggestions?
One of the cabaret's stars was femme fatale Marya Delvard, a woman vamp, dressed in black with chalk white face, who sang in a stylised manner. Her effect on audiences was electric. 'One thought involuntarily of sin' remarked Hans Carossa.

Hasn't someone on here got a Croatian wife? Repost with the appropriate title, you might get lucky.
Failing that, I'm due to go to Dubrovnik for a conference next weekend, but not sure I'll be able to pop in the local PO!

Andrew, do you still want this? If so, how many stamps? (2, 5, 20?)
No guarantees, but I mentioned it to a couple of people I met at the conference, and they don't mind walking into a PO and asking.
Let me know
Brendan

OH YEAH! That would be brilliant. Whatever happens thanks for remembering! 10 or 20 should do.

I'll see what I can do, but I forgot the email addresses today, so it won't start just yet!
20 will cost about 18 euros, are you able to buy a €20 note and post it off to Zagreb at some point if necessary (or €25 for postage and trouble)? Seems about the easiest way, I don't know if people are going to question the last cent.
Is your email address correct in your profile? If so, I'll use that.
Hope this all works out!
