Trying to copy some of my DVD's to my computer HDD but can't because of a Copy Protection error. I'm using VCD Galaxy software.

Is there a way around this?

you need to use a programme called smart ripper to remove copy protection, macrovision, region encoding etc.
Plenty of information here
www.vcdhelp.com - a few very good tutorials.

U'll need a software called Anydvd to make the copy protection 'transparent', then u can copy the dvd using software such as Clonedvd or Dvdxcopy.

also remembered DVD dycrypter does this

You need to 'rip' it using ripper software (smart ripper, dvd decryptor) and 'burn' it using burning software (nero, prassi etc)

If you need help or questions see www.vcdhelp.com or ask me here. Ive done quite a bit of this

Cheers chaps. Got updated version DVDecrypter (I had old one) which allowed me to copy.

Takes ages to convert to SVCD though! AGES!!! 3/4 hours to convert audio to AVI and 8/9 hours to turn it into mpg file. Currently running P4 1.5 with 256meg ram. Any ideas on how to speed it up?

Try using DVD shrink.......... Does the Decryption and compression in one....

I used to use Decrypter, but now Shrink.....

Shrink allows you to fit those oddly sized DVD's onto one disk...

Let me know if you need more help!!

I'm afraid that as I understand it, UK copyright law does no make provision for 'backing up' material. Therefore, it would be deemed as piracy.

As a consequence, I'm afraid this thread will be locked.
