Been spending some time recently researching the family tree and came across a German ancestor called Marya Delvard. Apparently she was a bit of a star in 1920s Berlin.
One of the cabaret's stars was femme fatale Marya Delvard, a woman vamp, dressed in black with chalk white face, who sang in a stylised manner. Her effect on audiences was electric. 'One thought involuntarily of sin' remarked Hans Carossa. http://www.posta.hr/imgs_marke/0473.jpg Strange thing is I've also found a photo of her on the net and she looks just like my Gran when she was a young woman. I'd love to get a copy of this stamp but haven't got a clue how I'd find one. It was issued on the 9th 5 2003 by I think the Croatian postal service (I know...) Suggestions? |

20 will cost about 18 euros, are you able to buy a €20 note and post it off to Zagreb at some point if necessary (or €25 for postage and trouble)? Seems about the easiest way, I don't know if people are going to question the last cent. Is your email address correct in your profile? If so, I'll use that. Hope this all works out! |
