Scottish Fire Brigades
#1
My boyfriend is looking to transfer from Greater Manchester Fire Brigade to a brigade in North/North East of Scotland as my work have transferred me.
Anybody got any suggestions or recommendations as to which brigades may be most suitable?

Thanks for all replies to my g/f's query. What I am really needing to know is things like working on rota days i.e. is it frowned upon, which days are allowed etc. Also what the senior officers are like i.e. attitude towards firefighters, that kind of thing.
The sort of thing an official website wont tell you!
Thanks, Mike

Yep agree with the comment about Strathclyde Fire Brigade. I'm only pissed off as I just got the old elbow from them at the application stage (bastids) . Goin to try for central fire brigade now, but its hard as **** to get in. Unless your someones cousin or son.
Rant over. Sorry to hijack the thread.

D8UGF. The reason it is hard to get in has **** all to do with nepatism mate! Most if not all Fire brigades have stopped recruiting untill at least 04/05? This is due to this governments insistance that we save money. And the easiest way is to not recruit, thus when people retire etc, they are not replaced and so save their wages!

Cheers Bud, was just havin a wee rant to myself! Have tried for about ten years to get into strathclyde and usually cant even get thru on the phonelines, managed to get thru this time (1st sept) got an application form and sent it back. Now I could take it on the chin if I simply wasnt good enough but it seems as tho its your donald duck if you get picked to go for the phsycometric test. As I know of someone who got to sit it for this recruitment drive, and in most peoples eyes is nowhere near the same level as me, but hey **** happens I suppose, would just like a fair crack at the whip.
