Does anyone have experience of floating all or part of a company on the AIM?
Would be very interested to know how much work is involved, and what sort of value can be realised, and whether in general people think it's a good idea. Co. in question has been trading 5 years and currently turns over about 6m. Year on year growth is pretty good.

Lots of work, but good values can be raised. However, how much is a bit like how long is a piece of string. Depends on what sector and its typical pe ratio (eg high tech/telcom is not very popular as it hasn't recovered yet from the bubble/3G issues), and the appetite from potential investors.
One of my friends has just attempted to float his medical / clinical writing business on AIM, but ended up going for a private placement instead as he couldn't agree a decent valuation through the broker despite the broker's never ending promises pre mandate.
Not a bad idea above issues aside. Profit, growth and prospects are of more interest than just turnover.

Cheers FB.
I suppose timing is key to getting a good return. So need to string together some high profit years to push up the value? The sector is industrial/infrastructure. Perhaps that will help us as we are not prone to the big ups and downs of the tech sector.
