Just finished my 1st year at college, to be honest I found it quite hard, I took biology, chemistry, physics and maths... Hopefully I will have some qualifications in august but I'll have to wait and see Its not a difficult choice weather to stay on at college or get a job because I found college very boring. But Ive no idea what job I could do, I wont have a degree, and dont want one, I will hopefully have some AS qualifications and I got good results at school (weather that really matters?). I want a decent job with good prospects, wages, and a company car would be nice What did other people in a similar situation to me do? I really have no idea...

Chaos
Stay at college, use the time to get extra qualifications, decided what you want to do and more importantly
get as into as many pairs of kickers as you can
Harsh but true,,,well the first part is anyway

My ex-wife was lazy and indolent as well and she became a Civil Servant. Money aint great, but stable as fvck.
If it was me I would stay on in college.
You don't want a company car mate, tax burden beyond belief.
Happy hunting

Have a look on Jobserve or other such sites to see what basic qualifications prospective employers are looking for.
I don't have college or degree but have been working since age 18.
I would have been a great marine biologist had I followed the career I wanted but ended up wasting five years in the post office which could have been used to further my education.

I am 26 and made the wrong decision after my A-levels and went to work - it' the biggest regret of my life.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen to my advice. Stay on and go to University. It's not just about qualifications, it's about the life experience. You have so much time to work.

go to Uni
you'll have a great time, find independence, you get to meet loads of folks from different areas - your mind will be opened.
you also get to do drugs, alcohol and sleep around. Its great. You will split up with your girlfriend though. believe me its for the best. You may not think so right now but one day the penny will drop.
Your parents/school teachers may tell you different but they are either lying or have never been to uni.
And whatever you do, don't go back home @ weekends

I got a job straight from A-Levels:
Retail Manager - £7000 pa - left after 6 months
"Hydraulic Engineer" - £5200 pa - great job but crap money - left after 6 months as there were no prospects (which was the only reason I took the job)
Telesales ****** - £12k basic - great people, crappy company, met my fiance and some very good friends - left after 6 months
Computer Technician (Modern Apprentice) - £10k pa, loved my job, company was excellent worked my way up to Senior Systems Engineer, more than doubled my wage within a year and it kept climbing, stayed for a few years
Currently Technical Manager for an ISP with no Uni experience.
As you can see, it took 3 jobs and 18 months for me to figure out what I wanted, which is OK when you live at home, have no debts and you're 18.
When you're 21/22, owe £20k and need somewhere to live, it's not as easy.
Just trying to give a little balance.
Also, I don't feel I missed out on the poontang availability at all

Have to admit I had a council grant and a weekend job back in the day. Worked all summers, left with a £1k overdraft.
I take it the 20k is a gov loan that you have to pay back later on, what are the conditions / timescale / payback rates? to me it seems we're going back to the times when further education is only for the have's, not the the have-nots..?
