Question

I'm a newbie when it comes to playing golf - I've been bitten with the golf bug and can't get enough! The problem I have is finding some one to play with. I don't have that many friends that play and my current golf partner is busy at the moment.

So come on anyone fancy a game (I'm based in Milton Keynes)?

Nowt wrong with going on your own....
Nice and relaxing and enables you some thinking time or whatever..

I go to the golf course on my own all the time.

I'd much rather find a person or bunch of people to go with, any ideas on to do this?

What are these golf societies all about then?

Wink

Join a club. If you're in a club you can play in the medal competitions and then meet people and you'll get invites to scratch games from that, people prefer to play with better players so lessons and practice what your told at the lessons. You should practice as often as you play so 2x1 hour lessons and 2x 30 minute practice sessions per week and 2 games, is a good regime.I cut my handicap from 23 to 13 in just over a year doing that. Then took me 2 years to get to 11, now I don't play

Camk - Many thanks for that, its really useful advise. I don't think I'm good enough to join a club and enter competitions. As a result I can't get enough practice to get any better. Currently I do a 9 hole par 3 course in around 47 shots - Is that any good?

BTW: Why should I need spare socks?

Thumbs up

Best advice would be to join a golf course if you are serious about sticking at it ...

You'd be amazed at how many people you'll meet there, who are into golf and there's always someone looking for someone to mark their card

Cheers
